Steeler is an adorable young two year old white male with a black & brown patch over his eye and another on his wigglebutt. Steeler has a short tail and big floppy ears. He is a healthy, heart worm negative, medium sized guy. This medium to high-energy guy came to us from a shelter in South Texas and is very happy to be in a foster home where he lives with a male Pug and female Boxer. He has not been tested with cats. We know he likes children but his excitement often leads to jumping so currently he is best with older and/or dog savvy children. Steeler is still very much a puppy and loves to play, play, play! Steeler has made tremendous progress in his foster home with consistent rules and a strong leader. Steeler is learning how to meet other dogs properly, unfortunately some strays need to learn this skill, and with his foster parents' paitience and protection he is making great strides. He will need an adopter who will give him plenty of outlets for his energy and commit to working with him on manners. Steeler's foster family has been impressed with how quickly he learned house training and crate training but like many young Boxers with dubious pasts, he still needs some work on his leash manners and controlling his body when he gets excited. Steeler's favorite activities include riding in the car, sunbathing, playing with toys, outdoor games, going on walks and getting hugs. He could wear out a tennis ball machine, so someone who loves to play fetch would win his heart. He is a very loving boy and craves attention and affection. Many of our young, energetic Boxers are at their very best with consistent daily activity like long walks or play sessions, then long naps as close to their humans as they can get.
