Please Describe Your Pet's Personality: Pips is a little shy at first but is very affectionate. He likes to lay in the sunshine or in quiet, dark places. Pips likes to cuddle and loves to have his head scratched. He is an indoor only cat. He's not a fan of loud noises. Overall, he likes to be left alone and seeks out affection on his own terms.
What is your home environment like? My husband, 22 month-old and I live in a 3-bedroom house in Southeast Austin. Pips is one of two cats that we currently own. We will need to rehome the other cat as well but will list separately. Our house was pretty quiet until our toddler was born. Now it gets a bit noisy.
Please Tell Us A Little About Your Family: My husband, toddler and I live in the house with Pips. We also have another cat that we will be rehoming. Currently, I work part-time from home so that I can stay home with our son. Pips was a one-year anniversary present from my husband, over 9 years ago.
What are your pet's favorite toys, foods, activities? Pips isn't a picky eater and currently eats dry cat food from Sam's Club. We leave his food out all the time. Pips doesn't really play with toys. He likes to lay in the sunshine or in quiet, dark places. Pips likes to cuddle and loves to have his head scratched.
If possible, please tell us a funny, cute or heartwarming story about your pet. His nickname is Pipsqueak.
For What Reason(s) are you needing to rehome your pet? We came to the decision that we needed to find Pips a new home for several reasons. First and foremost, Pips has been increasingly unhappy since our toddler was born. When we first brought our son home, Pips seemed indifferent except when he cried, and then he would run in the other direction. As our son has gotten older and mobile, Pips has been even less of a fan. He doesn't let my toddler get within a few feet of him. He races out of the room as soon as our son runs into it. This leads to him spending a lot of time alone. We're planning on having another baby very soon and this will only add to the chaos and isolation. We know Pips is getting older and he deserves to live somewhere that he can get the quiet, gentle affection he deserves. The catalyst for rehoming him now is that we are about to have noisy foundation repair that will require us to leave our home for several days, followed by listing our current home for sale, living in an apartment for 6 months, before finally moving to another home. All of this would be very disruptive for Pips, as he likes a nice, quiet routine.
Please describe what you are looking for in an adoptive family/home for your pet: We are looking for an owner/family that will provide Pips with a quiet, loving home where he will gets love of affection. He would be happiest with a single person or couple, but would also do well with a family with older children. We want to make sure that he is treated well, stays an indoor cat, and not subjected to declawing.
What supplies and accessories will come with your pet? We have a litter box, various grooming tools, a scratching post, and potentially food and litter that will go with each of our cats. We also have one cat carrier that we can give to whichever cat is rehomed first.
