Sugar snorts and flops around when she's happy (which is most of the time). If you are lucky enough to witness this, you'll know it's almost impossible not to smile and share her joy. Sugar is the perfect name for this sweet girl; she is a total cuddle bug! She loves belly rubs, snuggling up on the couch, and will even stand up and give you a hug when you get home. She adopted a stuffed toy that she carries around and sleeps with, just in case there are no other snuggles available. That is how dedicated she is to cuddling! Sugar is pretty good on a leash, and she adores her 3x per week walks along Town Lake trail. She has 'adopted' an entire boys football team that practice at the nearby fields where she walks. The boys call her by name and she runs over to them, flops on her belly, and rolls over to be petted by all of them. Sugar also adores swimming, and she will try to swim out to nearby kayakers when she's on the trail. Someone in her past did something really awful to Sugar's ears but she hasn't let that put a damper on her love of humans. Sugar is a people dog. She sees just about any human she meets as a potential friend, especially kids, but she needs to be the only pet in the house. No dogs or cats please. In addition to all of her wonderful qualities, Sugar has been working on her Canine Good Citizen skills with APA staff and volunteers. Her training is very connected to her relationship with you, so APA will work with you to help to keep the training going.
